Job Description: Installers will be responsible for commercial onsite installation and repair of custom-made aluminum railings for Mid to High rise buildings throughout the Greater Toronto Area. This will include cleaning and preparing worksites, removing items to be replaced, completing required installations using a variety of craft skills including masonry, carpentry, and general construction knowledge. The Installer must be capable and adept at using a variety of equipment, including power and hand tools. Responsibilities The roles and responsibilities of the Installer are as follows: Consult with Project Managers regarding plans and specifications Clean and perform preparation of work site Operate a variety of hand and power tools Keep a daily log of tasks Respect and respond to direction given by Project Manager and/or Lead Installer Perform minor masonry and carpentry work Install railings and other architectural materials as per drawings provided Understand and comply with all Policies and Procedures Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Load, unload, and identify materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed Read and interpret plans, instructions, blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to determine work activities Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements: Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner Time management skills Must possess a valid driver’s license Respect diversity – treat others with respect Avoid unnecessary conflict Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job Ability to carry and lift heavy objects (50lbs), walk and stand for long periods of time Ability to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. At heights and all-weather conditions Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools Ability to read building specifications, blueprints, and as-builds Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision Collaborative in dealing with fellow employees Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, English required
